Model overview
BioMed-RoBERTa-base is a language model based on the RoBERTa-base (Liu et. al, 2019) architecture. We adapt RoBERTa-base to 2.68 million scientific papers from the Semantic Scholar corpus via continued pretraining. This amounts to 7.55B tokens and 47GB of data. We use the full text of the papers in training, not just abstracts. Specific details of the adaptive pretraining procedure can be found in Gururangan et. al, 2020. BioMed-RoBERTa achieves competitive performance to state of the art models on a number of NLP tasks in the biomedical domain (numbers are mean (standard deviation) over 3+ random seeds)

Limitations & considerations
Sources are insufficient to establish specific limitations. Verify task performance, latency, data policies, licensing and version lifecycle.
Source prices & cost analysis
Prices vary by channel, region and configuration. Channel quotes are listed independently and are not treated as a single official provider price.

Estimate monthly base token costs
Estimates exclude cache discounts, tiered pricing, multimodal surcharges, web search, taxes and additional reasoning output.

Do open weights permit free commercial use?
Not necessarily. Check the version license, commercial conditions and usage policies. Self-hosting incurs compute and maintenance costs.
Are these real-time billing prices?
These are timestamped source snapshots, not live billing prices. Check the channel for current versions, regions, discounts and billing methods.
